Amazing city, friendly people, I am not a city person, but would love to go back. Never felt not safe in the tourist district. Lots of people though, would avoid main tourist time of the year. Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern and Topkapi Palace are unforgettable places to visit, must see.

Amazing city!
Amazing city! It felt overwhelming at times because of its history and culture. The people were very nice and friendly, the food was absolutely fabulous, and the only difficulty was choosing what I wanted. I particularly loved the fresh fruit and vegetable stands at every corner, with the option to have your orange or pomegranate juice juiced in front of you. The history of this place is absolutely invaluable. At times, it felt overwhelming. Walking the grounds of Hagia Sofia, which Emperor Justinian founded in 532 as a Byzantine Cathedral, it was hard not to feel the weight of the centuries embedded in the walls and columns holding it up. The Blue Mosque, an absolute beauty and marvel of architecture; the Grand Bazaar, the Spice Bazaar, and the Cistern Basilica, to name just a few. It was an extraordinary experience. I totally recommend it.

It's a beautiful city, the historic places like Blue Mosque, Grand Bazar and touring in Bosphorous sea all good moments enjoyed.
Please don't purchase any items near the Blue Mosque very very expensive, go to grand bazar , quality is the same and pricing is very good. You get the items at 10% value in grand Bazaar compare to the shops near the blue mosque.
Rest all, people are very good, very safe place to travel.

Old city (close to Blue mosque) is expensive so it's better to go to the Asian side - Kadiköy, Harem etc or Karakoy.
Grand bazaar in old city is worth to visit, just to see it, but if you want to shop, go to Karakoy or Kadiköy.

Liked Blue Mosque, Ayasofya, the underground Cistern. Didn’t like the modern port area. Grand Bazaar was good but I suspect we didn’t bargain enough. There are lots of touts who want to show you around….. the latest line is that they don’t want money but then they direct you to their store in the Bazaar. It is fun to have a cup of tea with store owners but then you have to buy something …. We didn’t take a Bosporus Cruise, so no comment there!

Istanbul has amazing history. Get to the right parts of the city and you will be astounded. I did not find getting around that easy, conquering the cheap public transport, as I only had limited time. Once I did a little bit, it was easier. Traffic is fierce, and taxi drivers will try to rip you off at every opportunity, and laugh in your face about it, or offer to take you out for dinner, or more lewd suggestions, if you are 'unhappy'. Add many male vendors to that. A very ingrained sexist society. As a female travelling alone, the men made it a difficult experience, unfortunately. I do not recommend it for solo female travellers..team up with others, including males, for less harassment, in my opinion.

This property is one of the bestest hotels to stay at Istanbul. The best part of this hotel is the owner himeself Fuad. He was exceptional with his services and he cared for us way too much. Every other time he was present to cater us. The rooms are newly renovated and clean. Washrooms are superb clean and all the facilities are there which are in 5 star hotel. I had a great trip and thank you Taksim Larissa for making it a memorable one. My next visit will be sure this hotel again.

It is a good location close to Taksim Square that is great for shopping, verry close to tram station that is great, cheap and fast way to reach Sultanahmet- historical part of Istanbul. Manager Mr. Burak was very kind and helpful with all advices and information. Great breakfast that they bring to a room. Super clean hotel.
