We live in USA but we are a Taiwanese family so we will be back to visit family and the homeland and plan/hope to return to this hotel next time we come here! We have stayed in luxurious places all over the world but this was one of the best. And the food at the restaurant was some of the most beautiful gourmet chinese/taiwanese food we have had anywhere in the world. I was here with my husband and my mother in law who raved about it and said out of 5 stars this place was an 8. She said “I stayed in 5 star hotels all over the world and this room was nicer than any of them.”

My stay was concentrated in the older part of the city. Overall quite a couple of interesting places to visit. "Lin, Chih-Chu Memorial", "National Taiwan Museum of Comics" and "Taichung Literature Museum". There's also quite a number of interesting cafes but I didn't have the time to try them out. But I did visit "Mamonaku Cafe" at "Taichung Station Railway Cultural Park". A must visit for any train or railway enthusiast. Do visit with a group of 2 or 3 if you want to secure a more instagram worthy seating. I was alone and tried to request to change seat, but they said they had to reserve the seats in question for bigger groups. Reasonable considering they only have about 6 to 7 tables. Oh and do drop by this store called "TR鐵道故事館 新烏日店" if you're visiting the city via High Speed Rail (HSR). It's located at Xinwuri Station, which is a transit station for Taichung HSR Station. Lots of train merch. Also do note that there seemed to have quite a number of homeless people hanging around Taichung Station (Not HSR) and along the Green River trail. They didn't do anything that bothers or causes harm to me, but still something to take note of.

Best of Taichung's tourist attractions are well separated; some need 30-60 mins travel. Taichung Main Station area is worth exploring on foot, and there are likely other areas. City is modern, with many neighborhoods showing their age, giving the city much character and hinting strongly at long past daily lifestyles.

Carrefour in Taroko Mall near Train station has good selection of grocery items. Prices are okay.
Not far from seaside and beach, maybe one hour by bus.
People were helpful, in general. However, bus station is difficult to find and people working there do not have the correct information. This was my biggest criticism of my stay.

Rented a car in Taichung.
Rented a car in Taichung. Went to Sun Moon Lake, Gao Mei Wetlands, Cinjing Farm and Zhongshe Flower Market. We had 3 nights in Taichung and I find that it was sufficient to enjoy these attractions. Driving around in Taichung is easier than in Taipei. The traffic was lighter and having a car in highly recommended.

There is a great deal to see and do in Taichung.
There is a great deal to see and do in Taichung. There are historical sites to visit as well as wonderful places to shop and an Art Museum. I visited for 6 days and was not able to visit all of the places that I had read about and wanted see.

Taichung is boring - you should only stop here as the gateway to Sun Moon Lake or the Gaomei Wetlands. Otherwise, Taipei can offer you everything that a Taiwanese city could, and it'd be far better as well

The location is close to Taichung train station bus station. Walk around 8 minutes from these station to the hotel. Miyahara ice-cream is 5 minute walk. Taichung Park, Yizhong street night market and Taroko mall are in walking distance. To go to Fengchia night market, take Uber.
The room is not big but clean including the bathroom. The tooth brush, tooth paste and hair comb you need to pay 10twd each.
Took a tour to Rainbow village, National Taichung Theatre, Gaomei wetland.

Is near to Taichung TRA station, to be exact just opposite (front station). Is also near to yichung street market and second market which sells a lot of snacks at wholesale price. Just a few bus stop away. The famous bakery is just behind the hotel. Staff are friendly, bed comfortable and clean. Downside the pillow too soft and hotel lobby too small compared to others outlet. Few convenient stalls around hotel.

The location is right within Taichung city centre and close to a lot of small eateries and shops. It is right next to a good sandwich store LiuRuiJen which is great for takeaway for next day breakfast or pastry snack. Hotel staff are all very friendly and helpful
