Come for immediate access to the Jozani nature reserve, stay for the amazing local cuisine! Biosphere is the perfect name, as we enjoyed the neat lizards, the monkeys playing in the courtyard, and birds visiting. We loved the breakfast and asked for a new local dish each night - the best was the “Swahili corner” for 2. The theme to this place was “pole pole” or “gentle/careful/slow”. We learned to plan around things taking a little time, which is great - we are on vacation. It is simple and staff are friendly, with a low price to match the rural setting ;) Be aware: The hotel is adjacent to the national park but does not include the entry ticket. You must go to the park reception and get an entry ticket/trail guide. The trails are incredibly confusing so this is a good rule!

Menai bay bungalows is in a beautiful and quiet secluded corner of Zanzibar, far from the beachgoing hordes and from the chaotic bustle of the town. The bungalows are lovely and the facilities generally very comfortable. The staff was helpful and kind. It is also cool to watch the fisherman in the village work from the terrace, and there are excellent waterbird and crab watching opportunities on the beach at low tide.

This was hands down the best place to stay in Zanzibar! I was looking for somewhere quiet to relax with amazing sunset views, and this spot couldn’t have been more perfect. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious, and the chef even taught me some Swahili! The staff were incredible: always friendly, attentive, and going out of their way to make sure everything was just right. It’s the little things that really stood out. On my last day, I had a late-night flight and was going to miss breakfast. Without me even asking, they packed one up for me to take on my trip. That kind of thoughtfulness says everything about how much they care for their guests. I’d 100% recommend this place and would come back in a heartbeat if I get the chance to visit Zanzibar again!

We had an amazing time there! The staff were so welcoming and friendly, the food was excellent—especially the breakfast, and the fresh fish straight from the sea was delicious. It was the perfect romantic getaway. If you love dogs, you’ll enjoy the friendly dogs around. The creative gym equipment was a nice touch, and the swimming pool with a sea view was just incredible.

Everything...the food was jus perfect from Swahili dishes to English dishes..the environment was veryyy friendly somewhere I can meditate..the rooms with very comfortable with very nice mattress .. everything is just friendly and I will obviously come back next time this year.. especially Chabi , teddy, Rosie,and nasra they make it feel like home 🥰
