SwedenWe stayed at Sand and Sunset and had such a wonderful experience. First of all, a huge thank you to the staff – they made us feel welcome and cared for from the very beginning. A young bartender and the lovely girl working at the bar were always kind, friendly, and full of positive energy. I also want to give special thanks to the pregnant woman at reception – she was incredibly caring and helpful when I had a wound and needed assistance. Her kindness truly meant a lot.
The food was absolutely delicious and fresh, and everything in the restaurant was served with great attention to quality. The rooms were cleaned very thoroughly, and we really appreciated how tidy and well-maintained everything was.
One small detail that could be improved was the toilet with a window facing another property, which felt like it lacked a bit of privacy. But honestly, this was a minor detail compared to everything else.
I truly recommend Sand and Sunset, especially because of the amazing staff – their warmth and hospitality made our stay memorable. Thank you for everything! 🌴

Kendwa beach was definitely the best beach compared to Nungwi, especially the south part. Even in low tide it was easy to take a swim. Also the beach here is wider and feel less crowded. As on the complete stretch there were many people trying to sell you stuff but on the south part not so many ”permanent” sales people other than the ones having sheds. The Maasai roaming around are friendly but just say no with a smile and most will not be persistent in their effort to sell you something..

If you are looking for white sand beach with the best ocean...
If you are looking for white sand beach with the best ocean waters and minimal tides, Kendwa is the best place in Zanzibar. The beach is the most spacious and greatest on the island and the village provides all the necessities you would need. With many tours and water activities offered on the beach you would hardly need to move anywhere else. It is also a walkable distance to Nungwi during low tide if anyone is interested in a more bustily environment.

The sea and beach with super soft and white sand are absolutely fabulous and relatively clean. I got bitten by sand fleas on my legs because I spend a lot of time in the sea and walked barefoot. There is a lot of informal trade on the beach by locals trying to sell something. Maybe even more so if you are a woman walking alone.

The location is great, just a minute from the ocean, there are a lot restaurants both expensive and very local ones, no issues with electricity, hot shower and air-con and the safe box. Card and cash payment is acceptable.
Very safe to stay and walk around even at night, the owner is very kind and trustworthy.
Very basic breakfast but it OK, no TV and fridge in the room, internet is breaking so often especially in the room, but it works perfectly at the balcony.
It is very budget friendly and highly recommend it.

Long walks on the beach, swimming even during low tide.
Long walks on the beach, swimming even during low tide. Some attractions are quite far and transport is expensive. Safari Blue Tour, Swimming with dolphins and turtles, Stonetown and the Serenity Spa were awesome. The trip advisor at the hotel assisted with bookings.

Unfortunately, there is a lot of small plastic waste and cigarette butts on the beach near the beach chairs. Noise, pollution and danger from reckless jet ski drivers. DANGEROUS & Pollution

Good location, though access is not immediate.
They have a partnership with Kendwa Rocks Hotel and for 20 USD you can enjoy their pool and beach sunbeads.
The restaurant is very good. Great food with normal price range. Good breakfast as well.
They are worried about the quality of the stay and ask for feedback at the moment, which gives guests the opportunity to communicate if something is not going so well and they try to improve / meet your needs, which happened to us.

Everything. Right after we came we felt like we’re in paradise. We got welcome juice :) We were here on our Honeymoon, so we had our room decorated 🫶
Servis of hotel was the best. Everyday room cleaning, everyone was helpful and always smiling. Staff is still working on something so hotel can be even better. The beach was probably the best in the Kendwa area. Yes, and the food was delicious. Always so many options! First time a did not even want to leave to go home 🩷
