Uzh is just a border town.
Uzh is just a border town. Better than many border towns but still not a whole lot going on. The Old Town, is quite pleasant. Most importantly, it is safe there. No homeless, no beggars, no thieves, unlike what you find in many western cities today. It's still just a town you go to, to get to somewhere else.

Despite its small size, it hosts numerous cultural and conscious events. Kolyba was a great restaurant for UA cuisine, and the waiter, Sasha, was a gem!

Small Ukrainian city with normally around 50.000 people but...
Small Ukrainian city with normally around 50.000 people but now due to the war around 100.000. City dosen't feel crowded of that reason. Vist the beautiful Chatedral which have free acces. Also nearby castle is worth a visit. You will find all kind of restaurants where you can enjoy the rich Ukrainian cuisine as well as international dishes. Taste the excellent Transcarpatian wine which over recent years has grown remarkebly in quality. Prices are resonable given in consideration that it is a war economy..Uzhhorod worth a visit!

Nice and and beautiful city in Transcarpatia just next to Slovakian border.
A little crowded due to many internal refugees but doesnt feel bad. You don't notice war. City has a lot of history an interesting castle and a lot of restaurants with local great wines and splendid regional food.

look poor.. most ofthe people are not speak English or Russian.. only Ukrainian.
to pass the border...the passport control is very problematic..take lot of time because the Hungarian side is..not helpful..
next to the hotel there is great local restaurant . very recommended.

A very interesting Ukrainian city, with a strong Hungarian...
A very interesting Ukrainian city, with a strong Hungarian heritage. The castle and attached outdoor walking museum are always interesting to visit. There's a small, but lovely historical city centre, and a great river walk. There's a number of nice parks. What I enjoy about Uzhorod, is that it is a very walkable city. It's not necessarily jam packed with museums, and other such tourist attractions, but it has a great atmosphere, and lots of good restaurants. I live in Ukraine, and have made Uzhorod my summer vacation spot. I highly recommend a visit.

This time, I guess, I tested tolerance of the staff to it's edge, as going all the way through Prague and waiting at the border for two hours made arrive at 11 pm, regardless, the staff was friendly and helpful as usual, giving me a nice, clean, A/C room with a nice balcony, clean bed, clean bathroom, and I was able to regenerate my energy to continue driving on. There are fine hotels in Uzhhorod, but this is the top one. Every time a stay at Alina, it's great experience. See you next time!

The hotel is very comfortable, the room was spacious, comfortable, with a large comfortable bed, table, fridge, etc. The A/C worked great and was very welcome in the hot summer. The hotel is perfectly located in the very center.
