The Bishop Museum is full of fascinating exhibits and is worth a full day visit. Parking and entry is expensive, but you get what you pay for.
Tip: If you are in the Waikiki area try the Mai Tais at sunset at each of the beach hotels -- Outrigger, Halekulani, Royal Hawaiian, etc -- working you way down the beach. They are all different and delicious.

Hawaii is not what we expected, but an experience now ticked off the list. Lovely friendly people, cultural history educational and we enjoyed delving into this. Quite a contrast of lifestyles from island to island.
Exchange rate made it very expensive and so we didn't spend much apart from essentials. Mandatory tipping something we are not used to. The ticket price on items is the starting point not what you end up paying.
Overall a good holiday.

This was my third trip to Oahu over the last several years, I love to visit there, it's a very special place where mountains meet the heavens and shoreline meets the ocean. If you're into shopping, dining, site seeing horseback riding, zip lines, and just lazy days on a beautiful beach this is the place to be. Please rent a car and travel the rest of the island the North shore is magnificent and OMG the local food leaves noting to be desired.

We loved Honolulu. We went on a full-day tour and our Guide was excellent. Loved Diamond Head. Tour booked with Aviator as we always do wherever we go in the world. We ate at a few different places.

An expensive place, best suited for a few days stopover rather than a 2 to 3 week holiday destination.
A Pearl Harbour tour/visit provides an interesting historical experience, and any water based activities are great for a first time visitor. The Polynesian Culture Centre (PCC) is also educational and informative.
Give the luau experience a miss, especially those provided by the hotels - overpriced. However f you would like to have the experience, perhaps do so as part of your visit to PCC.
You can get around the Waikiki area without a car (walk, or take public transport (The Bus). Soon there will be a railway connection as a new option for some of your planned travel,
Try Fire & Grill restaurant for a meal, give Earls a miss.
Got a family - try Dennys - old but reliable, value for money.

We love Honolulu, have been there before, the only thing is it is very expensive, our Australian dollar was not good, we got 62 cents to our dollar.. prices have skyrocketed, so you really need to be prepared.. We loved the Restaurant Ihop had great food, breakfast, lunch and dinner.. Buses run frequently and even to the Airport,

The hotel is located in Waikiki (second row), it only takes you a few minutes to walk to Waikiki beach and many Waikiki restaurants. The hotel also offers free beach gear such as towels, beach umbrellas and beach mats. Our room fee also included a solid breakfast with fresh fruit. You can also get coffee and water in the hotel lobby all day. The staff at the reception desk is very friendly and well-trained. Valet-parking is - compared to other hotels in Waikiki - rather cheap and very efficient.

I am born and raised in Hawaii and took my daughter back to show her where I came from. I live in Australia. Did the big real local vibe but needed some tourist action. Love the hotel love the room… But Waikiki is something I will do only on the occasion. Room was amazing and views were incredible, but everything else was just a bit chaotic. Hospitality of staff was incredible! on my return, I will always connect to this hotel/resort. 🌺❤️

Traditional Hawaiian charm that is sadly lacking in so many modern hotels in Waikiki nowadays. In a prime location, with spacious airy rooms and welcoming lobby area. Beautiful smell everytime you stepped in the hotel. Excellent free activities such as lei making and ukulele lessons. Simple but nice breakfast included. Housekeeping staff were fantastic as were the reception and breakfast team.

I have stayed at Waikiki Circle Hotel 20 times or more during the last 30 years - and often like this time for 3-4 nights. You cannot beat the location and staff is always execelent. I always book ocean front and the hotel prices have increased but I really like this hotel. Nothing fancy just nice and pleasant and the place for me to stay in Honolulu.

This hotel was the perfect combination of what we wanted: right on the beach, good views, a pool and restaurants, convenient to the main area of Waikiki; all at an affordable price.
It's not a luxury hotel, but in addition to the above, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the staff were friendly.
