ChinaWe chose this place for our first night on the Hawaiian Islands. It’s about a 20-30 minute drive from the airport. The popular restaurants are also within a 2-3 mile drive, so it’s a great location! The surrounding neighborhood is very quiet.
The overall service and room were very thoughtful. The check-in process was simple and clear, with insect-repelling scents and sprays, a small nightlight in the bathroom, a guestbook by the door, and even face masks available! There’s also a steam iron and regular iron to choose from.
We only realized after leaving that there was no TV, which fits perfectly with the bamboo and zen concept.

Beautiful shared space for a short stay with a beautiful ocean view and access to an inviting swimming pool. We did not make the time to enjoy the pool on this visit; next time. The space was well organized with bins to store food items and access to fridge space on a nice outdoor veranda overlooking plush trees and a spectacular view of the ocean. Thank you for a wonderful first stop on the island. Great first impression!

We really enjoyed Kailua-Kona. this place is diversifying in a wonderful way. We found Mexican food and even Indian Dosa's! We love the island and local foods, but being from California we are spoiled and do enjoy eating a variety of cultural foods each week. Kona is now able to deliver on this! Good food makes for a good trip.
Spencer Beach was about 45 minutes away and a great place to take little ones. We played on the beach and had a great time cleaning up at the outdoor beach showers. Bathrooms were closed for renovation. Dec 2025.

Absolutely should visit the national parks and cultural experiences. Do a bunch of research in advance on how to find the various scenic locations, waterfalls, etc. There are few signs to guide you along the way.

As a Big Island resident, I think Kona is over rated and overpriced for what it is. I think it looks like a strip mine with some beaches. Ali'i drive shops has many vacancies. I think other parts of the island have more to offer in beauty, scenery and temperature which is why I don't live in Kona.

We stayed a week in a house in area. Ate at Grill on beach drove to volcanoes, and Historic National Parks. Black sands beach was great as turtles swam by. Took Manta Rey night snorkel and day snorkels. Coffee tour was hot and humid but informative.

We got in late and although it was a short drive from the airport, it was a bit hard to find. We stayed one night and then travelled to Hilo. After our friend’s wedding we returned for another night before departing from Kona Airport.

The location was the best. Condo was spacious & clean. Bed super comfy. The balcony was the best. One of the main reasons we chose it.
Great ocean view. Sitting there listening to the waves was lovely.
Close to lots of restaurants. Kona is very walkable but there's also a free bus that runs pretty often down Alli drive. Takes you to a couple of great beaches.

The condos are huge. Think early 90s luxury. The AC works really well and there are plenty of pools to choose from so it was never crowded.
Location was good if you have a car. 15 minutes drive to old Kona town. Also very close to the Manta Rays snorkel area, which is 10 minutes walk away. It looks like the main drawcard of this resort is tennis and pickleball, because they have a massive number of courts which are very well maintained.

Location of the Sea Villages was centrally located, close to town and beaches. The unit #3113 had probably the best location in the resort, a few steps to the pool deck and an unobstructed view of Kailua Bay. Really enjoyed the beach equipment (boogie boards, beach chairs) that was left for renters to use. The host was very accommodating with our check-out request.

The property is showing some age, but the location and views are top notch. This is our 2nd time staying here and would stay again primarily for those reasons. The resort has typically been a good value as well.

Newly renovated, unusually high quality for Hawaii, nice view, optimalsspot to explore the area, great concept, great prices and wonderful staff. Feels like a boutique/design hotel.
