The boutique hotel was lovely, clean, the continental breakfast selection was more like a "European style" --full on menu (i.e.,beverages- juices, teas, coffee, espresso, hot entree with assortment of breads, pastries, spreads, fruits, cold entrees, etc.). The food was excellent. The quality of the food and beverages were exceptional! The morning dining room staff were professional and courteous and not intrusive to guests while dining. but, if you needed to order an item from the dine in menu the staff was there to take your order and worked efficiently. The dining room was clean and setup lovely. The staff always kept the food area replenished and very clean! We also enjoyed the 24 hour availably for in room dining. My husband and I will definitely be returning soon to stay at Hotel Drisco. The 24 hour parlor room service with hot and cold beverages with light snacks was a welcome treat especially the biscotti! Nice to come back to the Hotel and relax in the parlor room with a beverage and have a snack. The selection of quality teas were very nice. All the Hotel Drisco staff from bell men, front desk, dining room and housekeeping were professional and courteous especially, Tanjay! Our room was clean and very comfortable...housekeeping staff always kept our room very clean...like the bed and bath linens too!

FAQs about hotels in San Francisco

An Icon of Liberalism

Home to one of America’s icons – the Golden Gate Bridge – San Francisco is a liberal city where life is very much for the living.

Surrounded on 3 sides by water, it is spread over steep hills that make for great photo opportunities. None better than the zig-zag Lombard Street seen in many a film. Other movie stars are the streetcars plying the hill climbs – a little touristy, but still worth trying.

In the middle of the bay is Alcatraz island, famed for the notorious criminals once imprisoned there. Even if you don’t fancy going inside, the views towards the bridge and city are unparalleled.

Nowhere in San Francisco is life more laidback than on the Pacific beaches. Hire a bike and head out there via the huge Golden Gate Park, before returning to sample some fresh seafood at Fisherman’s Wharf. The clam chowder served in (yes, actually in!) bread is a delight. Chinatown also has a great selection of good value restaurants.

As you fly into San Francisco Airport, look out for the exclusive homes lining the Bay Area. Whether you want to stay in apartments along those lines, luxury San Francisco hotels or cheap hostels, Booking.com has something to suit. Be careful though – you might just leave your heart here.

Im glad I was allowed to visit San Francisco.

Im glad I was allowed to visit San Francisco. I recommend anyone who decides to go there or are sent there by their business must go by the Golden Gate Bridge and try to take pictures there. You wont regret it.

San Francisco continues to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Vistas of the bay, Alcatraz, Golden Gate Bridge, and the city are iconic and it's easy to find places to see the best views. Museums are amazing - do check out the Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park. And SF is very safe - perhaps a few small areas that aren't, which is true of most places where humans have gathered - but I walked alone for many miles and had no fears. (I'm a 70-year-old woman.) Enjoy!

San Francisco is beautiful and there is so much to see, 4 days would be the perfect length of the trip if you really want to have a taste of the city and enjoying it without rushing. I loved Union square, with city lights, shopping and restaurants. Fisherman wharf was a nice spot, Alcatraz is a must, so interesting.

We are living not far from San Francisco and take the opportunity often to visit. As a city I can highly recommend SFO, especially the area on the warf. It has amazing landmarks. Golden Gate Bridge, Bay Bridge, Alcatraz... Other areas of the city are also great to see.

Wonderful vibe.

Wonderful vibe. Safe, clean, and I can't wait to return to spend more time in this spectacular city with so such to offer. We were there for work and only so a tiny part of the city but I loved walking around the embarcadero where we stayed for a few days and enjoyed the bay, piers and markets. Spending a day in the Golden gate park walking and enjoying all of the activity and sites. Japan town and the marvelous food and people are also high on my list. Can't wait to return to explore more of the sites.

We stayed in the Fisherman's Wharf area which was really great. A few homeless "spaced out" wandering around but avoidable. The Big Red Bus was great & was a 2 1/2hrs in total which took a trip across the golden Gate Bridge. Alcatraz is a must see as was the Trolley Tram. Some areas of the city of San Fran I would avoid, a lot of drug affected people on the streets, not some areas I would go at night time. We took the tram for a round trip to also see the sights but found that the last stop was in a non-desirable area & had to wait 20 minutes for another tram to take us back to the Wharf area. We followed the rule of "don't make eye contact' & kept to ourselves. Would certainly go back though as we did not have enough time to explore everything we would have liked to. There were loads of driverless cars getting about which was unique for us as Aussies.

Perfect location for Fisherman’s Wharf with free parking (a rare find in San Fran) Bus stops right outside for downtown/union square. 7-10 minute walk to pier 33 (Alcatraz) and pier 39 where there are lots of restaurants/shops/street entertainment and a great view of Alcatraz and Golden Gate Bridge. Clean hotel with very helpful and friendly staff. Beds extremely comfortable, good powerful shower and the complimentary shower gel/shampoo/conditioner smelt divine ! Would definitely stay again and would highly recommend.

The hotel’s location is the best, just 5 minutes from Union Square and 7 from Chinatown. There are also many food shops nearby. The room size was very comfortable, and the bathroom was great too. Additionally, they have a kitchen, laundry, and other shared spaces on the lower floor. We enjoyed how close everything was, and several buses stop nearby, connecting you with the city.
