Virginia Beach is a mixed bag as far as east coast beaches go. The oceanfront boardwalk is wonderful! They keep it clean and the buildings free from lots of big signs and advertising. There are restaurants and hotels all along the boardwalk. The beach is nice - golden, warm sand and typical mid-atlantic water with small waves and dark water. Most of the hotels are older so even the renovated ones are obviously old. But there are many that have been kept up nicely. Many rooms smell a bit musty because they are on the beach! There are lots of shops and eateries behind the oceanfront hotels. During the day, I"ve always felt safe walking around, and in the evenings during prime summer months, there are lots of families walking around. But you have to be a little street smart. And a few hotels are near bars that stay open and loud into the early morning (not many - only had this issue once). I've stayed here MANY times over the years and LOVE my VaBeach stays. Also, there are many large events that happen, so you might want to check into that. One of my favorites is Sand Soccer weekend - SO MUCH FUN... but not a great weekend for a quiet beach getaway! Overall I love VaBeach!

I saw in the brochure the many things I could do but I was visiting family primarily so I didn't. It is easy to drive around. Ate German food at the Wasserhunt. Delicious! Ate a grinder at YNot - I live in the Philadelphia area and this sandwich was spot on!

People like the boardwalk/ promenade.
I wouldn't go thete in the high season but good for a short break and breath of sea air.

The actual beach was very nice!
The actual beach was very nice! There was music just about every night on the boardwalk, which was nice just not enough room around the band stand (stage) to get close enough to see the band. Overall, it was an okay stay.

Virginia Beach is a great place to relax on the beach.
Virginia Beach is a great place to relax on the beach. I visited early September; it is easy getting around. Captain George Seafood Restaurant on 1956 Laskin Rd is an all you can eat snow crab leg buffet is a place I recommend you go to dine. I always enjoy being able to rent a bike and ride on the costal front.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t very nice in Virginia Beach. We stayed there. It was cold and windy. Didn’t wanna go on the beach when it was cold so the next day we went on the beach because the sun came out then it got so windy that everything was flying so we went in disappointed. I really wanted my last trip to the beach to be this one, but Another year I guess.

The breakfast was like snacks not breakfast the advertisement was not like how they show you the room. They did not put on the front of the ocean view. When I got to it to the hotel, they said portion view I have to pay an extra fee for the whole ocean view. Worst hotel I stayed in Virginia, I will never stay at that hotel again….

Location was awesome, we walked everywhere and didn’t use the car at all, Virginia Beach rock. The on site restaurant was perfect for breakfast n lunch. So many options to walk to for dinner. The on site bar was definitely fun too. Can’t wait to come back.

Best location on the boardwalk if you want to avoid some of the crowd. Wonderful views of the ocean and inlet. Convenient to Rudee Inlet, the Virginia Aquarium and all points South (Sandbridge, Back Bay NWR, Military Aviation Museum, etc).
