FAQs about hotels in Washington, D.C.

A World Icon

Featuring tons of national treasures, Washington DC is the US capital and home to the world’s most iconic presidential building – The White House. Most visitors start at the National Mall, a huge park stretching from the Potomac River to the Capitol Building. It also encompasses the Washington Monument obelisk and the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, of particular significance in US civil rights, commemorated by the latest addition - the Martin Luther King Memorial.

Also here are 11 of the city’s 17 incredible Smithsonian museums, including the unmissable National Museum of American History.

If all this gets too much, wander around Georgetown’s Colonial buildings and take a break in one of the student cafés. Many world cuisines are represented in Washington DC and the city also has its fair share of live music venues, with a surprisingly good jazz scene. The National Symphony Orchestra is based here and the Kennedy Center hosts a range of productions.

DC’s planning policy means there are no skyscrapers, so if you fly into Washingon Dulles Airport over the city, you see its white buildings standing proud. The city is also served by Baltimore-Washington Thurgood Marshall Airport and Washington National Airport. All are quite a way out, so leave plenty of time to get there from your hotel, apartment or guesthouse booked through Booking.com.

The city was remarkably clean with no litter and no graffiti. Beautiful architecture kept in pristine condition. Security was extremely tight with an excessive number of police and National Guard patrols- a bit excessive in my opinion. Be prepared to do a lot of walking in Washington-distances are a lot further than they seem!

I haven't been there in years and visited the Smithsonian zoo. That part was great. The zoo was a lot of fun and a great work out! I am a country girl and the city is just so dirty!!! Garbage everywhere!!! The people of the area were pleasant though 🥰 I was comfortable in the areas I was in but just so sad to see 😢 God Bless America and her beautiful people 🇺🇲

Very good value public transport. People, the public, incredibly helpful. Beautiful city. People working in many of the art museums and other museums, seemed totally unaware of the geography of the museum, unable to direct to be next section. Unbelievable. Of course, some great exceptions. Beautifulness classical buildings, great sense of space

You can't beat the access to our Nation's history, via monuments, museums, etc. The city was cleaner than we expected it to be and everyone was very friendly. Uber or taxi seem to be the easiest ways to travel, though a lot of the area is walkable if you are willing!

I have been in this hotel many times before 8-10 years earlier and it has transformed in a mediocre hotel. The good French restaurant is gone and the bar has changed into an ugly cheap atmosphere location. The rooms are still nice and clean, but no bar. The lobby has lost its atmosphere and the elevators are dirty. To be honest, this hotel needs a refit
