This is hands down the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Everything was so well taken care off, the whole experience was just superb. From the design of the building, to the beautiful room, the little private zen gardens, the location in Arashiyama. The staff was friendly, professional and kind. I felt incredibly relaxed and serene during my stay. And then there was the dinner and breakfast. Every dish was special, featuring local ingredients and cuisine, artistically presented and prepared to perfection.

We had a wonderful stay at Togetsutei. Our suite was even better than expected — modern and new, yet still keeping the traditional ryokan charm. The location is perfect for exploring Kyoto, and the entire property is clean and well maintained. Service was excellent, and the kaiseki dinner gave us a truly authentic Japanese experience. Although the price is higher than a typical hotel, we felt it was worth every yen and would happily book again. Our room was exactly like the pictures on the website. Tip: make sure to reserve your dinner before arriving.

The room was very modern and spacious with a very large bathroom and shower, plus a large sofa area. It was also very close to the JR station which was only a 15 minute ride to Kyoto main station.

Loved this hotel, staff were amazing I had enquired about laundry facilities but they advised they did not have any which was fine however on checking in they had given me the location of nearest coin laundry and a little map to show it was only 3 minute drive away lovely touch, we had a car so was important to book parking space in Front of hotel (only space for two cars) but worked perfectly.

Exquisite facilities. One of the most beautiful places I've stayed, like the Japanese maple outside the window, or the Japanese design. The HEATED SHOWER FLOORS. Beds and pillows were incredibly comfortable. Washer dryer works well. Great little sitting area for a big family.

Great location, 10min walking to the bamboo forest and temple. Get there early, this makes a big difference in crowd sizes in these very touristic places. Go further north for quieter and just as beautiful temples / areas. Helpful host and super useful parking space in kyoto. Plenty of space in the house for a family.

The place was amazing, totally met our expectations. The house was well maintained, clean. You may find a lot of useul brochures about Kyoto on the table, also manuals to use all the equipments in the house which was a great help. The zen garden is a good extra touch to the house. The bath with the vat was also great. I read that some people mentioned it takes a while to fill up that big tub (maybe around 25 minutes). That’s totally understandable given its size — it’s large enough to fit 3 maybe even 4 people! If that’s the only negative aspect holding you back, you should definitely book it.

Great communication from the hosts; very helpful with our luggage, great suggestions for dining options, friendly and welcoming. Excellent location, easy to get to the places we wanted to visit. Very clean house, equipped with all that we needed for our stay.
