Such a novelty having a sauna in our room and being able to go from bath tub to sauna freely. The room was really modern with a good sized fridge and freezer. Plenty of towels were provided and they were soft and fluffy. A bonus was the 5pm happy (read free) hour drinks in the little bar area. There was also a roof top with olive trees and lounges that allowed us to see both the sunset and the moonrise over Mt Kinka. The location was excellent. Just a short walk from the entrance to Yana Gasse and across the road from Kashimori park and the entrance to Mt Kinka Observation deck. You could also hire bikes from there. We loved it all.

CURIO Shirakawago se nachází v destinaci Širakawa. Hida Minzoku Mura skanzen se nachází 46 km daleko a Takajama vlakové nádraží 47 km. I felt I was very lucky to be able to book a room here for the illumination event on Jan. 19, 2025. The room is modern and well-equipped, it meets all our needs as city dwellers who explore this village for the first time. This hotel is about 15 minutes walk from the Shirakawago Bus Terminal, but we didn't feel it's a long walk given all the beautiful snow and village scenes alongside the paths. The staff were nice and friendly, and they did help us a lot on our specific needs: we arrived in the morning of the illumination day, and we were allowed to hand our big suit cases to a member of staff. When we were back in the hotel for the tickets of the illumination event, our suit cases were already in our room. This saved us quite some efforts to store our suit cases at the Shirakawago Bus Terminal. After the event was over, I asked the member of staff who would drive us back to the hotel about a restaurant nearby for our dinner. He told us that restaurant opened until 9 PM that day and drove us directly there, which saved us efforts and left us more time to enjoy the wonderful Hida Beef. I appreciate all the kindly help from everyone in this hotel, and I will stay here again when I visit Shirakawago next time.
