The pool is so lovely, the rooms are wonderful, the staff is incredible and the meals have been carefully planned around the Ayurveda clinic that has the most incredible doctor and therapists taking care of you. We stayed at Eighth Bastion in Fort Kochi, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience. The staff and the hotel’s theme were exceptional – they were always there with a smile, ready to help or answer any questions. An extra bonus was the excellent espresso available in the room, along with a variety of loose-leaf teas. In the afternoons, snacks were offered, and included in our stay was a two-hour tuk-tuk sightseeing tour as well as a heritage morning walk. I have rarely stayed at a hotel that consistently goes the extra mile to create a memorable experience for its guests. The location is also excellent, right behind the Dutch Cemetery and Sandy Beach, where you can enjoy the sunset within minutes. From there, it’s a pleasant walk along the water to the busier parts of town. Breakfast here was probably the best we’ve had in India, with plenty of healthy and nutritious options. The restaurant also served very tasty and reasonably priced meals, and any special requests were always happily accommodated. Eighth Bastion Fort Kochi is our obvious choice whenever we return – and we definitely will!
