Camping along the river was very appealing. The very strong rains made using the river impossible and it was quite damp for tenting, but that was not the fault of the proprietors. They arranged safari vehicles and guides and gave us very good advice about the length of the safari that would be best for our group.

Beautiful and clean property. Felt like home. He organized the safari, the driver was a great guide. Lots of animals to see and lots of elephants. The owner is very kind. Definitely one of the most beautiful places I have stayed in Sri Lanka. Highly recommended for a few days getaway

Your totally absorbed by the nature! You can totally relax with the sounds of nature all around you. The staff were fantastic and always ready to help answer any questions including “what bird is that” x 20. The staff were patient and knowledgeable and they made my experience amazing!!

Uniquely architecturally designed small resort full of little chalets for couples and travelers. Really sad to see that the property is nearly abandoned and maintenance has stopped, maybe due to lack of affordable guests visiting Udawalawa. We got our rooms for unbelievably low prices that give extreme value for what you pay. Even though that property is nearly abandoned, they have not limited anything for guests. Clean pool, pool towels, super comforty chalets, clean amenities, 24 hours room service and even a nice small buffet is also there. From frontdesk to the ground level, a very limited number of staff is available, but they are polite, helpful, pleasant and work hard to make the stay comfortable. Most of the luxury wooden designs and pathways leading from restaurant to river, are decayed and closed, they seem to be not maintained anymore. If you are visiting this resort for this super cheap price tag posted currently, please do not expect the above mentioned eye catching things and post unreasonable reviews. Again I am saying is the value for what you pay is extremely high here. Thank you Kottawatta River Bank Resort.

The property is gorgeous and very natural. There are no eye-sores, everything is very blended with nature. The two swimming pools were really lovely and the restaurant buffet dinners were delicious. The best part was the general manager who went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. He engaged with our kids and made sure they stayed busy with basketball, volleyball, arranged a village walk across the river, and made special arrangements on our safari to celebrate my son's birthday. He was like a traditional hotel general manager who treats everybody like his personal guest. It's a really special place and definitely a great base for visiting both Udawalawe and Yala parks.

This ecolodge was enjoyable for my children, husband and myself. The tents were roomy and had flushing toilets and warm showers. The dinners were elegant on white tablecloth under the stars. The safari guide and driver did an excellent job pointing out elephant herds, birds and crocodiles at this park. I recommend this lodge.

What a wonderful hidden gem! This property was beautiful and FULL of life. You could hear how alive the jungle is. The hosts were absolutely wonderful. There was a big rain storm when we arrived, making it difficult to get up the road, but they helped our driver. The room was unique and our kids enjoyed the property. The food was out of this world. Definitely request dinner when you arrive. You can truly tell how passionate the host is about cooking and sharing food with you. He even tried a new recipe on us, and it was to die for! It's still our best food experience in our 15 days in Sri Lanka.
