We chose Kikuchi instead of Kumamoto, to get away from the city before our trip to Mt Aso. We got a lovely country house, but the main benefit was the lovely couple who hosted us. Super friendly and helpful. I enjoyed breakfast, my wife skipped hers, so the host packed it as a bento box for our lunch. Vegetables from the garden. A guided visit to the forest to see fireflies. Tastes of local food and drink. It was if we were lodging with my favourite aunt and uncle.

The breakfast for just Y1000 and coffee for Y500 was the best part of our stay! And that's saying a lot because we loved it all. She is such a good cook and he roasts the coffee on premises! So good.

Located in Kumamoto, Dyeing and Hostel Nakashimaya - Female Only provides 1-star accommodation with private terraces. Guests staying at this guest house have access to a balcony. the host was really kind and friendly, allowed me check in earlier and offered me a larger room with no charge, also introduced the city and shops nearby to me. the place is very cozy and warm, definitely a good choice for a solo traveller with good price, highly recommended.
