I had a great stay at Makai Surf House. The staff were kind and helpful, always around if you needed anything but never overbearing. The location is ideal — close to the beach but still quiet and peaceful. The house and garden are really well kept, with a calm, relaxed atmosphere. I also met some genuinely nice people while I was there, which made the experience even better. Would happily come back.

Our stay was great! Everything went smoothly, and the staff was friendly and attentive. The breakfasts were varied. The place is quiet, and we had no disturbances at night. The shower room with an open roof was a unique experience. We highly recommend this place for its comfort and peaceful atmosphere!

The host is a very friendly and knowledgeable person, he has spent years driving tourists around so has good knowledge of what to do and what not to do, while being completely honest and not pushing anything on to you - which is very unique here. The breakfast was incredibly generous, luckily we fast from 4pm each day so we could fit it in by the morning. There was a large variety of food he kept bringing us so it certainly won't leave you wanting! The location is close to Galle so it makes access to the Fort quick and easy - which we loved. We had an amazing stay at Stuthi villa, it is a quiet place with a beautiful swimming pool. The room was very nice with an amazing outside shower. The breakfast was very good and the staff is very friendly. I would totally recommend this place to anyone! A special thanks to Stephane and the staff for welcoming us and making us feel like home!

I had a fabulous time at this hotel and was very sad to leave after four days. The staff are so kind and they keep the place spotlessly clean, despite being right on the beach. The hotel and feels like a small resort. The property is very quiet and it is easy to pass time between the beach loungers and the pool. The location is fantastic, being walking distance from many restaurants while also being away from the noise of the beach bars. It is also easy and convenient (and fun!) to take the bus to Hikkaduwa, the Tsunami Museum, or Galle from the road outside the hotel. Service at breakfast is also top notch. I highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing holiday with easy access to amenities in Hikkaduwa.

Susanna and Tusharo (please excuse me if I’m misspelling the names :) were wonderful hosts. Welcoming and informative. It really felt like our own house. Spotless clean, equipped with everything a traveler needs, beautiful nature around, a garden well kept. Another great thing is the hosts really care about animals and Tusharo shared fascinating information about the connection local people share with the sea turtles (we got lucky and swam with them). The beach has some great surf. Would love to come back and stay more.
