José is a great host and very helpful. The place is almost by the beach and very quiet but five minutes from the main street. I loved the garden. The shower is very good with a good pressure. I booked a room with A/C, which was very strong. Thanks José for the magnet: it is already in place here at home.

The owner helped us with booking a night tour to see turtles laying eggs and a morning canoe trip. Initially, there was an issue with the room as there was no kitchenette for our family of 4. After a short conversation, the owner offered us an additional smaller room, which had a kitchenette along with the original room, and all was settled. Huge TVs in the rooms with a variety of streaming services.

The hosts, Oscar and Karen, were superbly welcoming and friendly. Our favourite stay in all of Costa Rica! Quiet clean rooms with comfortable beds, individual A/C in our room, private bathroom and good shower. Safe and private. Well-equipped kitchen and a delightful covered patio to relax. We spotted a variety of birds, iguana, and a far off monkey from there. Easy walk to stores, restaurants, the boat dock, and the Tortuguero National Park. Oscar has his on boat with a quiet trolling motor, and he gave us an early morning boat tour of the National Park canals. He’s wonderful guide at spotting wildlife- many birds, spider monkeys, caiman, lizards.

If I go back to Tortuguero, I will stay here, primarily because the gentleman at the front desk went out of his way to answer questions and help me with any issues I had. First rate. Bed was comfortable, air conditioning was efficient. WiFi was strong enough to stream movies and upload small batches of photos. Plenty of space in the shared kitchen area for me to store my groceries. Two ply toilet paper.

We had a wonderful stay at Casa Thirema! The hotel is in a great location, right in the village, close to everything but still peaceful. The room was very clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. What really stood out was the personal attention—Carmen was incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home, taking the time to explain everything with care. On the day of our departure, they even prepared an early breakfast for us, well before the usual breakfast time, which was so thoughtful. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Tortuguero!

We spent only 1 night to do a night tour. The room was very nice, super clean, with AC, which was so important as it was too hot outside. The house is just in front of the sea so you can hear at night the sound of the waves, it was so relaxing. Also, in the room there were coffee, tea, and some candies. We really loved our stay here.
