The place has an authentic spark, we loved to stay here! The owner is really kind and helpful, gave a lot of tips and recommendations. Perfect for experiencing authentic Kyoto! It was a bit cold at night, but there was an ac and warm blankets, so it's not a problem! There's an onsen just by the place, so you can relax after a long day of exploring

It was the best place we stayed in Japan! Although it is a Hostel, we got the private room with shared bathrooms. No one were ever in the bathrooms, which felt more like a private bathroom. The location was PERFECT. Near the tourist markets. Staff was great. Rooms and Washrooms were super clean. It is just like the pictures. Luggage storage under the bed, a small mini fridge and a sink in the bedroom.

It took about 20 minutes to walk from the nearest JR station (Nijo), but it positioned us well to see places in Arashiyama and Kinkaku-ji (also a 20-minute walk). Grocery stores, convenience stores, and restaurants were plentiful and nearby. Our hosts were easy to work and communicate with and were very friendly. You have to climb a steep staircase to access the rooms and bathroom on the second floor, but our hosts were very helpful in moving our luggage up to our rooms even though we were both able to do so without problem. There is a nice shower/bath on the first floor.
