I had a fantastic stay at Salty Dog Hostel- my only regret was I couldn't stay longer!. Arif, Axel and the whole family create a really nice family vibe in the hostel and will always go out of their way to make sure you get the most from your stay on this beautiful island. The dorm I stayed in was basic, but had everything you needed- privacy curtain , Aircon and an attached bathroom. The hostel hires out both scooters and surfboards for cheap ( even more so if you take over a week ) and is only a 20 min drive away from the best surfing spots in the South. Dazhong Backpacker's Hostel se nachází v destinaci Medan v regionu Sumatra. Jen 1,7 km odtud je Pajak Ikan Medan. Best place to stay for backpackers in Medan. The location is perfect and the host extremely friendly and helpful. The place is clean and relatively comfortable--remember it is a hostel, not a hotel, so be prepared for sharing the space. I stayed at a different hostel in Medan before coming to Dazhong and it could not compare to this. You will meet fellow travelers here, the atmosphere is very friendly, and you will get all the information and help you need to travel in Sumatra.

Super clean and the staff was friendly. The sheets smell good. i love everything especially the toilet. At night there was a street vendor in front of the hostel. Near to city center and train station. Very quite at night and it's good for me to rest. Free one bottle mineral water and they provide us free water refill in second floor.

The airport is very close and the shuttle is cheap, which is perfect.

Very friendly staff and owner. Also very helpfull when you need or want something. The best thing we could do was book the jungle trek tour. Our guide Edi Caterpilar was doing great teaching us all the stuff he knows about the jungle. We saw many oeran-oetangs and other monkeys. Also other animals like a weird river-turtle. Rafting in the end is also worth doing, very nice ending of the trip!

He helped me with recieving a package in Indonesia what was so important for me. He gives some good tips for the city and for first steps in Indonesia. The place has nice common space so it's easy to socialise with other travellers and go out with them for food, sightseeing etc.
