I Nagaoka, 15 kilometer fra Hikone slott, ligger Guesthouse Izame Ann, som har gratis sykler, gratis privat parkering, en fellesstue og en bar. Well worth the effort to travel to experience a lovely ryokan, it's host and the town. I paid for dinner and I'm SO glad I did. It was a highlight of my stay and in deed a highlight of my 5 week trip in Japan. You sit in a sunken seating area and watch the ryokan owner/cook prepare what felt like a large number of individual dishes. The food was absolutely delicious. I was concerned about hearing other guests because, being an older house, the walls are thin - but the night I was there all the guests were respectfully quiet. I had a view over the "river" which may be a mis-nomer - but it is a peaceful stream running through the pretty street. I highly recommend a visit.

You can even share a meal with your host if you offer ☺️

Youth Hostel WANIHAMA-Beach side Lake BIWA ligger i Otsu, 15 kilometer fra Sanzen-in (tempel), og har en hage, bar og utsikt over fjellet. We got a room with its own toilet and bathroom for a great price. Traditional tatami style room makes it feel very humble and homely. The staff was very friendly and accommodating - they drove us to the station very early in the morning.

I Hikone, 1,7 kilometer fra Hikone slott, ligger GUEST HOUSE NAGORIYA, som har en bar og gratis privat parkering. The owner was incredibly nice and well traveled

GYPSY TAKASHIMA tilbyr gratis sykler, hage, en fellesstue og terrasse i Katsuno. Amazing value for a big room in a comfortable, hostel-style accommodation. Takashima is a very quiet and beautiful town on the lake, and this is the perfect place to stay. Highly recommended!!

片原楽家 旅人の長浜町家ドミトリー ligger i Nagahama, 14 kilometer fra Hikone slott og 8,9 kilometer fra Maibara stasjon, og har en terrasse og en bar. The capsule room was so cozy and suitable for me. I have a good sleep yesterday.

I Minami-komatsu, 24 kilometer fra Sanzen-in (tempel), ligger Biwa-Lakeside Cottage B B Dylan, som har en hage, gratis privat parkering, en fellesstue og en terrasse. We loved how accomodating and nice the staff were they were always making sure the space/ our room was tidy and neat and provided us with fresh linen, towels and robes daily. They cooked us meals and treated us like family! The location is beautiful right on the lake with amazing sunrises and sunsets and just a short 10 minuet walk to the station or a 15 minuet walk to 711. We honestly can’t fault anything about this property and can’t wait to stay again!
