I fell in love with Ometepe and this ended up being the perfect spot. Wonderful people, wonder place and a great price. A special mention to Luis at the hostel. I forgot to collect my passport after handing it as security on my quad bike and he done some digging for me to find someone who could bring it safely to Granada for me. Excellent service throughout. I just know i will be back. I have a friend visiting soon and i will no doubt recommend he stays at this location.

As the name implies, Life is Good, and they do a great job of showing that through their care of the hostel, the guests, and the overall vibe of the place.

She helped us with everything, we got sick and she literally took care of us. The location is great and the rooms are big enough with private bathroom, the breakfast was amazing as well.

Set in Santa Cruz, Raindance offers beachfront accommodation 1.7 km from Santo Domingo Beach and offers various facilities, such as an outdoor swimming pool, a garden and a bar. We stayed in The Dash. a private cabana with its own plunge pool! Great bed. Good AC. Coffee,tea etc. Loved it.

Situated in Las Pilas, 17 km from Maderas Volcano, Rainbow Caravan Hostel features accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a restaurant. The place was very clean and tidy, tranquil, and no noise at night which is rare in Nicaragua because there's always someone making some noise. The food was quality, homemade vegan goodness. Making a fire was cool and it has all the modern amenities like a fridge and cooking equipment so you can bring beer. Didn't have any bugs unlike some of the other hostels i stayed in on Ometepe. It's quite a good location equidistance between the two towns and near the start of Volcan Concepción. I recommend renting an ATV rather than a scooter at the port and picking it up in Ometepe, don't trust the people on the San Jorge side. The hostel also offers scooter rental although I picked mine up at port. Very photogenic hostel and peaceful.

Located in Moyogalpa, Sophie House offers 3-star accommodation with a garden, a shared lounge and a terrace. The hostel also provides free WiFi and free private parking. It’s a bit aside from the port city Moyogalpa, so it’s very calm and almost no cars and people here, but still easy to reach by foot from the Centre (15 min walk). It has breakfast included and it’s home cooked food by the family. My room was very spacious, with 1 double and 1 single bed. They had outlets outside and inside, so i could work online here. Ask for both WiFi passwords! The host family was very nice and always tried to help, like when I needed a dentist they found a number. They don’t speak English (as most locals here) but with my broken Spanish and google translate we always understood each other. You can also ask them about the laundry option. Thanks for hosting me!

Set in Altagracia, 16 km from Maderas Volcano, B&B, family run homestay, Hospedaje La Penita offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace. Learned this was one of the original hostels on Ometepe. Breakfasts and dinners were freshly prepared with local ingredients. Their dogs and cats were very nice to spend time with. The hosts can lease scooters and deliver them for competitive prices. Communication with host prior to and during stay was excellent.

El Pital, Chocolate Paradise has a garden, private beach area, a terrace and restaurant in Balgue. Stunning location. The photos don’t do it justice.
