Sandra is incredibly kind and helpful. Riverstone was a great base to wait out the weather to hike the tongariro crossing. The place itself is super clean and cozy, and has a nice patio to enjoy the sun and a well equipped kitchen.

It was a quick trip for me to get my bike fixed. I had a booking in the afternoon and went there directly. When I book a hostel, I always look for a bed with a curtain because I need privacy when I sleep. The bunk bed is comfy! The room size matches the number of guests (maximum 6 people). There is an ensuite bathroom in the dorm, but there’s also a central bathroom as well. It’s really clean! One thing I love the most is how functional the central bathroom is — there are two hangers and a shelf for my belongings. This is always a problem in some hostels because I never know where to put my clothes, towel, and shower set. The staff are really nice; she explained all the areas to me. The kitchen is clean too. I think it was almost full because I went on a weekend, but it wasn’t chaotic like many other places. If I have a solo trip to Taupo, I will definitely book this hostel again.

While we shared an area with strangers, we had our own privacy in the pods (unlike other backpackers and bunk bed styles). Will definitely recommend to family and friends.

Very nice hostel right in the small and cute Hahei town, walking distance to the stunning Hahei beach, and great to start from to hike to Cathedral Cove (just 40 min). Very nice wooden room with super comfortable bed and bed linen, clean shared bathroom, spacious and welcoming shared kitchen and living room. Very convenient parking right in front of the room. Possibility to do laundry but you’ll need NDZ cash. The staff is really nice and helpful too. I loved the birds in the morning! Will stay here again next time!

It has a lovely setting, fun animals, saltwater pool, and a nice kitchen with everything you could need. Dave is great about picking up/dropping off with luggage at the bus stop.
