The elegant mansion has a turbulant history . In the 16th century it was known as the 'Lombard Stone " - a pawnshop that offered secured loans to people, run by Northern Italian bankers.
Today the house is famous because of the disappearance of an art-piece of “Het Lam Gods”-“De Rechtvaardige Rechters”- made by the Van Eyck-brothers in 1434, in Ghent. This house is on the long list of possible places where the stolen painting would have been hidden.
Quatre Mains is more than just a piano shop. It is a place where musical notes seduce and music lovers can express their passion. Where international artists may find a home and are presented with the space and resources to work, compose and relax.
Regularly we organize exclusive concerts in the bar adjoining our shop. Classical, jazz as well as more current piano plays find their way into our haven. Follow all the latest updates regarding concerts on our Facebook-page.
Artists and musicians alike may count on us for several other services including rental of pianos. We have close ties to many concert halls where we may facilitate the organizing of events. Rental directly to fellow pianists is, of course, another option where we will attend to every possible detail to finding your perfect sound.
Quatre Mains is a meeting ground for anyone who finds magic and wonder in music.
From this excellent location, guests can easily walk to all the main attractions such as St. Bavo’s cathedral and the Graslei.
Capitole Gent theatre, Vooruit theatre, the Handelsbeurs and the Flemish Opera are a 10-minute walk from the hotel.
