’t Kleihuys is a serene and warm guesthouse in a quiet historic neighbourhood of Bruges, just a short walk from the Market Square. The house carries a homely atmosphere where old and new blend naturally. Architect and ceramic artist Sophie designed the entire interior, with clay as the central concept reflected in the materials, colours and overall experience. More than one hundred handmade porcelain lamps create a soft, calming glow. ’t Kleihuys consists of two historic houses and offers four unique guest rooms, with an atmospheric shared lounge and dining room exclusively for guests, ensuring both comfort and privacy for visitors as well as for the host. Breakfast is not provided, but there are plenty of lovely breakfast spots, bakeries and shops nearby. Guests are welcome to enjoy their own breakfast, lunch or dinner in the inviting communal dining room. A coffee maker, kettle, fridge, honesty bar with local drinks, as well as a microwave and an oven are available for your use. The cosy lounge, terraces and green garden offer peaceful places to relax and experience Bruges in complete serenity.

We are Sophie and Peter, together with our three children Korneel, Kasper and Juliette. As an architect, ceramicist and artist, Sophie created every detail of ’t Kleihuys with her own hands: from the porcelain lighting to the sinks, tables and artworks that give the house its soul. We love travelling ourselves and find encounters with other cultures truly enriching. As Bruges locals, we still enjoy the beauty of our historic city every single day, and we are happy to share our favourite places, hidden gems and local tips. ’t Kleihuys is located opposite the English Convent, in one of the most authentic and peaceful residential areas within the historic city ring of Bruges. You’re surrounded by silence, heritage and charm, while the bustling city centre and Market Square are only minutes away on foot. Bruges is best explored by walking — every street, canal and corner tells a story. Nearby bike rentals allow you to discover the polders, Damme and even the coastline. The neighbourhood offers plenty of green spaces, including nearby parks and the leafy ramparts. Parking is available for a fee at the door, or for free at the peripheral car parks with a complimentary bus or bike shuttle. Public transport to and from the station is convenient, and there is safe storage for bicycles. A perfect base for those seeking tranquillity, culture and authenticity, close to everything yet wonderfully serene.
