Chalet Grouse - All seasons luxury at Ayer, near Zinal, St Luc, Grimentz in Val d'Anniviers, Switzerland Accommodation for ten guests. The chalet has stunning views of the mountains above the resorts of Grimentz and Zinal. Parking for two cars off road at the chalet. Underfloor heating on all floors. Available to rent for up to ten guests. Larger parties may wish to also rent our neighbouring sister property, Chalet Cuckoo. Cuckoo sleeps up to 5 guests with a minimum stay of 5 days; arrive Sunday, Monday or Tuesday (different over Christmas and New Year); take advantage of the saving available if staying 7 or more days. Top floor: Entrance hall with ski boot dryers and plenty of room for sports equipment. Two bedrooms: double and twin: -The double has a magnificent super king bed and a basin. -The twin has two very comfortable armchairs. The bathroom (bath, shower, basin, toilet) and is shared by these two rooms. Middle floor: Entrance hall (with toilet) and Sejour (Sejour is French for an open plan sitting, dining and kitchen area). There are two huge sofas in luxurious sitting area, which has a log burning stove (wood not included) as we as TV, DVD and recently upgraded Wi-Fi. In the cupboard and under the window seat you will find masses of books, puzzles and videos. The large round circular dining table seats twelve and has a lazy Susan in the middle, so all you have to do to get the wine is turn the rotating tray. The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge/freezer, four ring electric hob, oven, combination microwave, kettle, toaster, dishwasher, fondue, raclette and many other gadgets. Lower floor: Three en-suite bedrooms; two twin bedrooms and one double bedroom. The double bedroom and one of the twins have en-suite bathrooms (bath, toilet and basin) The second twin bedroom has an en-suite shower room (shower, toilet and basin). All bedrooms have copious cupboard space. The recessed balcony is accessed from either bed.

Activities While many think of chalets for winter sports, such as skiing, the best months of the year are June to October, the autumn is particularly beautiful. There are lots of activities and whether it is mountain biking or walking in the summer or skiing in the winter the local tourist information website provides an up-to-date list of activities, with locations, contact details, opening times and costs in English, French and German. Recommended all the Year Round The Francois-Xavier Bagnoud Observatory is worth a visit at all times of the year, its associated Planets Trails should be walked in summer. The Moiry Dam can be reached by public transport or car in the summer. Paragliding - tandem for a trial and on your own for the more experienced is possible all year round. Winter Activities Skiing/snowboarding at St Luc/Chandolin and Zinal/Grimentz is ten minutes away by car. Lower down the valley one can ski/snowboard at Vercorin, useful when it is snowing. Other winter activities include hiking, skating, sledging and various indoor activities including swimming, climbing, escape room, trail running, gyms and an indoor park with an adventure park, Ninja Warriors, trampolines (big), battle beams, a play corner for over 18 months, bar and cafe, exclusive hire is available for parties e.g. birthdays. Summer Activities In summer many activities and public transport within the Val d'Anniviers are free with the Anniviers Libertee pass. For those who enjoy walking just exit the chalet and the mountains are yours. Lake Appitettaz (two hours walk from Zinal) for a picnic or Hotel Weisshorn for a meal or stay the night (two hours walk from the top of the St Luc Funicular or three hours from the chalet). For the family Foxtrail Dahn is fun! Other summer activities on offer are biking, climbing including via ferratas (iron way) mountain carting/scootering, fishing, pétanque (bowls), mini-golf and bungee.
