Mompiche is located within the Ecuadorian Chocó corridor, one of the most important areas in the world for its biodiversity. It has spectacular landscapes to offer such as mangroves, a black sand beach, and tropical rainforest. In addition, there is a recognized African Ecuadorian culture intermingled with the Manabi culture. And, as if that were not enough, there is a large number of Pre-Columbian remnants from the Jama-Coaque culture. Many of these attractions are also found in the surrounding areas of Portete, Bolívar and El León. Do you want to surf? Here, you´ll find a spectacular left wave that reaches a distance of up to 0,6 miles during the season from December to March. This spot is considered sacred for its beauty and because it is located right beside the local cementary. It is perfect for those who want to learn to surf.
