A Galician family who, in the year 2000, decided to roll up their sleeves and restore their paternal family home — a house passed down from parents to children for more than four generations. At the time, rural tourism was just beginning to emerge within the hospitality sector, but we already knew we wanted to offer something different: spacious, comfortable rooms with highly personalized service, where attention to small details would make all the difference. And so, after a year of renovation (always respecting the original structure) — and enduring the longest winter Galicia had seen in years (seven months of rain) — we opened our doors to the public on July 14th, 2001, in a ceremony attended by Mr. Manuel Fraga Iribarne, then President of the Xunta de Galicia. However, we have never considered Casa do Sear a business, but rather a place of connection and learning, where our guests can awaken all five senses while disconnecting from the routine. It’s no easy task to condense over four hundred years of history into just a few lines, but for the most curious guests who are eager to discover some of the secrets hidden within these centuries-old walls, here is a glimpse. Upon arrival, Casa do Sear welcomes visitors with a coat of arms that rises above the main gate of the house. Engraved on the stone lintel is the year 1742, although the building itself dates back to 1591. The gateway leads to an inner courtyard, where you’ll find a baroque balustrade enclosing a small landing, which is accessed via a stone staircase. Surrounding the house are traditional Galician structures: a three-section hórreo (raised granary), a stone dovecote, and a spring-fed fountain. Originally known as "La Torre del Sear" (The Tower of Sear), the property was later referred to for many years as "La Casa del Coronel" (The Colonel’s House), since — as history tells us — it once belonged to a colonel before passing into our family’s hands. In fact, many locals were convinced we would keep that name after the restoration. Since 2001, however, everyone in the area knows it as Casa do Sear. We offer outdoor SPA facilities, including an Epsom salt pool, heated jacuzzi, and Finnish sauna. We also provide MASSAGE services.
