We rebuilt the house ourselves 15 years ago. It previously belonged to an elderly local lady subsistence farmer who kept animals on the ground floor. The top floor was used to cure meats and store grain. The metal rings on the wall of the ground floor where the donkeys were tethered can still be seen. The house is over 3 floors with a large lounge and double bedroom on the top floor, the 1st floor has 2 double bedrooms, small lounge with futon. The ground floor has kitchen/dining area and bathroom. Please note this part of the house is rustic & may not suit everyones taste. ONLY 1 BATHROOM/WC It's located at the heart of the village between the church and nunnery, with fantastic panoramic views from the roof terrace. The house has been restored in keeping with its Alpujarran history with original floor plans. There are many bars, cafes and supermarkets close by. DISCLAIMER: Please note the roof terrace is not suitable for children as it is an open space with a low railing with spaces in between the bars. Any adults should be aware of the hazard and use the area at their own risk. There is a good view of the mountain and used safely it is an area that can be enjoyed.

Lanjaron is a spa town at the edge of Las Alpujarras in the Sierra Nevada mountain range within a network of 200 mountain villages. The house is at the centre of the village and the beach at Salobrena and Granada are each only 30 minutes drive away. Sol Y Nieve, the ski resort is 25 minutes up from Granada. Locally there are two pools, one at the lush Hotel Andalucia and the municipal pool at the top of town. There are plenty of shops selling local artisan products and a few supermarkets. There is information for tourists at the local town hall, a 2 minute walk away. Perfect for Walkers, Birdwatchers and outdoor pursuits, Semana Santa (Easter), San Juan water festival (June) and local summer fiestas. *DON'T MISS San Juan water festival coming in June!!* 4 days of San Juan festivities in town start on the night of 22nd June at midnight when a cannon goes off. The water fight lasts for an hour then the celebration continues. There are fairground rides at one end of the town. Over the course of four days, there are usually events, stalls, and activities for everyone to get involved with. In the evenings, there is live music. A mass is held in honour of St John the Baptist.
