The Lecrin Valley, nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada is the kind of place you visit and never want to leave. Those wishing to relax can enjoy the peaceful tranquility of a village which contentedly slumbers for much of the year. Yet, those wanting to experience something more lively can coincide their visit with one of the many fiestas this community proudly boasts. Whatever time you choose to come, you can rest assured that there will plenty for you to do.

The village of Chite is thirty minutes from the beach and an hour from the ski slopes. Hikers can explore the many walking routes of the Alpujarras or trek to the top of the highest mountain in mainland Spain, where they will experience spectacular views of the Mediterranean. Nobody should miss out on a day or two seeing the sights in beautiful Granada, particularly the stunning Alhambra palace which dates back to the time of the Moors. Yet, the local delights of Lecrin are more than enough to detain a visitor looking for good food, beautiful scenery and welcoming villagers. The area is famous for it’s delicious tapas, served free with every drink. The Beznar reservoir, just a ten-minute walk from Chite, has water sports throughout the summer. But, if you want, it’s possible to do nothing more than sit back and enjoy the views from the village. This is a rural village and a car is essential. Buses do run between villages and Granada but they're infrequent.
