We love sharing our home in the beautiful Charente countryside with our cats and guests and try to inject some of our passion for this wonderful spot into every visit (the casts are never allowed in the bedrooms and we lock them out if guests are allergic!). But our real ambition is to share the love for our honeybees by offering guests the chance to come and spend some time with us learning about bees and beekeeping. Just how important their role in the world is, what they do for us and what we can all do to help them... You'll get to try honey tasting, inspecting beehives, handling bees, making things from beeswax and plenty more! We provide all the necessary equipment and can offer a truly different holiday for folks wanting to experience something hugely relaxing and fun to boot. Any profits we make are re-invested back into making beekeeping more sustainable locally and to supporting beekeeping efforts in France and the UK. Located on the banks of the river Vienne, close to the medieval town of Confolens with its parks, fabulous architecture, restaurants, bars, shops and amenities. There are many walking and cycling routes in the area and around the town and we enjoy unspoiled countryside in pretty much every direction. Our B&B welcome is warm as are our spacious, recently-renovated rooms. We offer generous breakfasts, packed lunches if desired, bicycles for hire and our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and small groups. Each of our 4, recently renovated guest bedrooms has been designed with comfort and relaxation in mind. Each has it's own personality ranging from the super-contemporary Terrace room to the classical and peaceful Juliette Room with it's Juliette balcony overlooking our 3-acre parkland garden. Our guests are free to use our 50 square metre grand salon during the stay to relax, meet other guests and enjoy the views through the 6 glass doors overlooking the river Vienne. The Charente is among the sunniest regions in France and all our rooms are bathed in sunshine during the day but each has shutters and opening windows so guests can keep rooms cool or warm.

The Charente is one of the sunniest departments in France and benefits form some of the most sparsely populated and unspoiled countryside for visitors to enjoy. With medieval towns and villages to explore, Roman ruins to discover and leisure lakes to explore, the list of activities is much longer than the time most people have to stay here. Whether you enjoy horse-riding, sailing, boarding, cycling, walking, swimming or canoeing, there is something to capture your imagination and to fill your days either here in Confolens or a short drive away. If history is your passion, Confolens (a petite cité de caractère) is packed with medieval and Napoleonic architecture complete with cobbled streets, rampart walks and the river Vienne running through the centre. A short drive in any any direction shows you more of France's unique character without being overly 'touristy' or commercial. This is real France brought to life by passionate locals. If you do want the bustle of city life, the majestic rampart-city of Angoulême and the world-famous potteries of Limoges are both less than an hour away.
