Raffles has been running for over 45 years as a guest house and home to four children. It was purchased in 1976 by Ric and Sue for a very good price, but it really was in a frightful state! Over the years the building and gardens have been lovingly restored. Sue was very creative, a keen gardener and fantastic cook, and Ric was an antique dealer. Their vibrancy and warmth are still at the heart of Raffles, as seen through the variety of interesting pieces to be found throughout. Both were truly colourful characters, who always placed kindness towards others at the centre of their lives. The guest house is now in the hands of Justine and Jonathan, two of the four children. We and the team look forward to welcoming you to our family home.

Raffles of Exeter is a family run guest house that offers relaxed and comfortable accommodation in our lovingly restored Victorian townhouse. Trading since 1976 and awarded four stars by The English Tourist Board, we are proud to offer our guests that little bit extra. All rooms are ensuite, with plenty of white fluffy towels. Some of our rooms have king sized beds, and all have crisp white linen with only the very best quality pillows. At Raffles, you can be certain of a cosy night’s sleep to prepare for your days exploring the city! Each room has a large flat screen TV, with plenty of channels, including Amazon Prime. There is free high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the house, meaning your electronic devices are just as welcome as you are. Our breakfast is freshly cooked to order, sourced locally and organically where possible. We cater very well for speciality dietary requirements. We have a wonderful garden and guest lounge area for you to relax in, and we also offer free parking in our private carpark. In addition, we have a charging point for electric vehicles.

Raffles is perfectly positioned for your stay in Exeter, just a five-minute walk to the historic town centre and all its amenities. With great food, lovely local shops and a grand Cathedral, the town centre is ideal for everyone. We are also a short stroll to the university grounds.
