Είναι κτισμένο αμφιθεατρικά σε μια έκταση 3 στρεμμάτων στο ωραιότερο σημείο της πόλης με πανοραμική θέα το απέραντο γαλάζιο του Κρητικού Πελάγους, την παλιά πόλη και το Βενετσιάνικο κάστρο (Φορτέτσα).
