Though Australian I have lived in Greece most of my life and my favourtie things to do here on Lesvos: cooking, visiting restaurants, eating nice food. Situated in the heart of the village of Molyvos (also known as Mythimna) is Captain’s View, a beautifully restored stone house retaining Molyvos tradition and with an eye for both Greek style and luxurious detail.

Molyvos’s idyllic setting is its own attraction, combining natural beauty and a preserved traditional village crowned by a Byzantine castle. Cobblestone alleys shaded by wisteria lead through the upper village, past stone houses, shops, and cafes with wooden balconies, then down to the postcard-perfect harbor, where you can eat a lovely meal at the water’s edge or visit the galleries and shops. At every corner is something special to see, whether it’s the stunning view over the water or an architectural treasure dating back to ancient times. Visitors will find everything they need here: the butcher, baker, several small groceries, a post office, bank, and several ATMs. There are many restaurants, cafes and bars to choose from, and along the main road at the foot of the village are cars, motorbikes and bicycles for hire. Molyvos has a one-and-a-half kilometer-long town beach, easily accessible from the main road into the village. The town end, which is pebbly with a sandy bottom, offers showers and food and drink close by. The farther end is sandier and more secluded.
