The Minoan Palace and the archaeological site of Malia are located 3 km East of the EMERALD HOTEL. From the architectural point of view the Palace of Malia, is the third- largest of the Minoan Palaces and is considered the most "provincial" of them.It covers d an area of 7,500 sq.m. and according to tradition the third son of Zeus and Europa, Sarpedon, brother of the legendary king Minos, ruled here. In 5 minutes walk distance is the beautifull old village of Malia which you can visit for a nice walk, or in order enjoy your meal in one of the restaurants that offers excellent quality of greek food. Potamos beach, located next to the archaelogical site of malia is a long beautiful beach with fine white sand and crystal-clear waters and is considered as one of Crete’s finest beaches.
