We built our own yurt in 2008 and used it for art projects before it became our home. It is actually named Ger in Mongolia which means home. Our yurts are made to withstand the European climate and have been excellent during all seasons and weathers. The Yurt is isolated with felted wool and is quick to warm up with the fire oven.

For nine years we (Thora Solveig, Erwin and our two kids) have been living year round in a yurt in the north of Iceland. We want to give other people the opportunity to also have the experience of being close to nature yet protected in a sheltering round space with a fireplace. Thora Solveig grew up in the area. The yurts are on her fathers land on a hill with an amazing view over Akureyri and the valley, Eyjafjorður and the surrounding mountains. You are really in the nature. There are only 3 yurts. Breakfast will be ready for you in your own yurt, to enjoy when you like in your own company. We also invite our guests to experience an Icelandic local geothermal swimming pool in Hrafnagil. We don´t have a shower on site, but instead offer free entree to the pool (10 min. drive) which has hot showers, hottubs a steambath and icepool.

There is a forest belonging to the property great for hiking, playing in the stream or tourskiing. There is no road to the yurt, its a 5 min. walk or jeepride so you really experience being emerged in nature. It is a real adventure for families or for romantic secluded getaways. It´s only a 5 min. drive to the new Forest lagoon as well.
