Nearby (walking distance) are the Forest lagoon wonderful natural baths. The capital of the north, Akureyri, is 10 minutes away. The exceptionally beautiful Godafoss is 20 minutes away and it takes about an hour to go to Mývatn, which is one of Iceland's main natural gems.
If you drive a little further, you will come to Dettifoss, which is the largest waterfall in Europe.
The puffin island of Grímsey can also be visited by plane or boat.
