Milazzo è una Penisola che si protende nel mar Tirreno, porto di imbarco per le isole Eolie. Il promontorio, dove sorge Milazzo, alto 88 mt sul livello del mare, è emerso verso il 400.000 a.C. in seguito a movimenti tellurici. I primi insediamenti umani sono datati intorno al 4.500 a.C. Nell’età del ferro compaiono i Siculi.Milazzo è ricca di numerosi monumenti e chiese, tra le quali spiccano il Castello, il Duomo ed il Santuario di san Francesco di Paola, costruito, tra il 1464 e il 1467, per volere del santo durante il soggiorno in città, dove operò numerosi miracoli. Una legenda narra che Milazzo fosse la terra dove Ulisse naufragò e incontrò il mitico Ciclope Polifemo. Infatti, gli antichi storici fissano la fondazione della città nel 716 a.C. in una zona tanto ricca e mite da essere chiamata con il nome di "Penisola del Sole". Delle magiche isole dove vivevano Eolo, dio del vento, ninfe e satiri oggi è rimasto il fascino di un eden naturalistico unico aperto a visitatori curiosi di storia e di arte.
