Entering the ancient village, enclosed in an artery in the shape of heart, you have the feeling of stepping back in time and breathe the atmosphere of past centuries. Charming and picturesque, the historic center of Mesagne, the singular artistic beauty, is presented to visitors in a spectacular maze of alleys extremely ordered; the houses painted with lime in contrast with the intense blue sky offer fascinating play of shadows and colors. It 'a village of ancient origins, inhabited in pre-Roman times by Messapi, with many examples that can be seen in the Museum of the Territory, in the Hellenistic Necropolis in the Archaeological Park and the historic center.
The imposing Norman-Swabian Castle is the most representative monument of the town; totally restored also serves as a museum of Renaissance architecture and is home to numerous exhibitions of modern and contemporary.
