Lake Orta, just 12 miles (19km) long, is a truly magical place, with a special beauty and peace, and during your first visit, you are likely to fall in love with the area, whether for its natural beauty, the warmth of the people, or the beautiful clean water and air. Once you have seen Lake Orta's soft colours by day, and the twinkling of the lights around the lake by night, you will be enchanted... The local centre of Orta San Giulio is charming. Its car-free streets are something very special, and you are spoiled for choice of restaurant and cafes. Though not a place known for night life, there are several wonderful bars and enotecas. The beautiful scenery, amazing local villages, great beaches, superb walking, boating and rafting, skiing, easy access to the Alps the other Italian Lakes and the Ligurian coast, and the wonderful and very reasonably priced local restaurants all make for a fantastic stay at Lake Orta. And Casa Bartula is the perfect base to experience this great little lake!
