Villa Mira was built during WWII on the foundations of the sleeping quarters of the women that worked in the Rigoni Factory that was destroyed by the war. Michelle's Grandparents built their home by hand during a difficult and trying period with love and dedication for their family. the upstairs was later raised in the 1960s to welcome guests from afar, as Grandmother Lojska and Grandfather Nin opened a bed and breakfast. Michelle and Franco have worked over the past years restoring the home to the original splendor and to open the doors once again to guests from around the world. They have chosen to maintain as much as they possibly could the original qualities of the home so that guests can experience a true bed and breakfast experience of living in a home that was created for the family out of love. The view from the terrace is amazing and was the favorite place for Captain Nin to sit and watch over his fishing vessel as well as to look out to the sea, the place that he not only worked on until well into his 80's but loved with a passion.
We are excited to welcome our guests into our family home, we hope you will enjoy your stay with us and appreciate the living at home experience only real Bed and Breakfasts offer. Our hobbies together are scuba diving, skiing, hiking, and boating, we are both Kickboxing instructors and we also teach self-defense classes.
I, Michelle love music and photography, which has been my hobby from early childhood,Franco loves to sky dive, anything to do with airplanes and is a CB enthusiast.
Duino is a small fishing village situated in the northern Adriatic sea. Here you will find hot summer days filled with boaters and people swimming. From the terrace, you can watch and hear people enjoying their summer holidays, diving off the walls of the stone pier located below. If you keep your eyes to the sea you can spot dolphins that sometimes magically appear and delight you with their jumps and dives. There is a beautiful castle located in the piazza, The Castello di Duino is run by the royal family of Thurn and Taxis and have opened their doors to tourists from around the world. It sits majestically high above the sea on the cliffs and offers spectacular gardens and views. We are just 20 minutes away from the city of Trieste and you can get there comfortably by using public transportation so you won't even have to move your car.
