We are located right on the shore of Bacalar lagoon, away from the hustle and bustle of the town and yet only a 5 minute drive from the city center with its picturesque craft shops, regional and international restaurants, ice cream parlors and small supermarkets. Discover the history of Bacalar, the pirates, Mayans and Spaniards in the Fort of San Felipe and its interesting museum. Bacalar makes a good starting point for day trips to the Caribbean beaches of Mahahual (1h) and the less visited Mayan sites of Kohunlich and Dzinbanché (1h). There are good connections to Cancun Airport (5 hrs) and the Chetumal Airport (30 min). Chetumal, the "cradle of miscegenation" and capital of the State of Quintana Roo, offers the amenities of a large city such as large supermarkets, cinemas, shops and a beautiful waterfront in Calderitas with many seafood restaurants. From here, buses leave for Belize and Guatemala, or ferries to the islands of San Pedro (the "Isla Bonita" of the Madonna song) and Caye Caulker in Belize.
