De Boerstee offers a unique overnight stay in a monumental farmhouse dating back to 1786, combining authenticity with modern comfort. Here, you literally sleep surrounded by the stories of the past, but with all the conveniences of today. De Boerstee breathes history. The original details and old floors evoke memories of the farming life of bygone days. Staying at De Boerstee is more than just spending the night, it’s a true experience for young and old alike. Here, you can even sleep in an original bedstee (traditional box bed). The interior of De Boerstee feels like a small museum: everywhere you’ll find antique furniture, everyday objects, and art pieces that together tell the story of 250 years of Drenthe’s history. There are 3 double bedrooms, 3 box beds (2 × 130×190 cm and 1 × 120×175 cm), and 1 single bedroom. Our accommodation can host a maximum of 10 adults, or up to 6 adults and 7 children.

We’re Matthijs and Hesther, and for many years we dreamed of having our own holiday home, a place where guests can instantly feel at home. When we discovered Ruinerwold, it was love at first sight: the peace, the nature, the authenticity, the sense of space, the central location, and the charming nearby town of Meppel. De Boerstee is located in the characteristic village of Ruinerwold, known for its stately farmhouses and rich history. From the farmhouse, you can step straight into the Drenthe countryside, ideal for cycling and walking. Within fifteen minutes, you’ll find beautiful nature reserves such as Dwingelderveld, Weerribben, Holtingerveld, and the Drents-Friese Wold. There’s plenty to discover in the area: Giethoorn, explore the “Venice of the North” by boat. Meppel and Steenwijk, charming towns with shops, cafés, and restaurants. Hunebeds, museums, local markets, and traditional farmhouses. Cycling and walking routes that start right from your doorstep. De Drentse Koe, a fun farm experience where children can play indoors and outdoors while you enjoy a fresh ice cream. After a day full of discoveries, return to the peace and quiet of De Boerstee.
