I was born in the university city of Coimbra, but soon my parents decided to relocate to the countryside. Casa das Palmeiras has the history of my great-grandfather and now, almost one hundred years later, I am dedicated to carry on his legacy and put my parents’ dream to practice.The property has been abandoned for several years: the main house, the aviary, the barn, the old winery and the farm were very damaged when my parents decided to move here to the countryside from the city. Dedicated to transforming this farm into more of a place to live, they started the rebuilding of the entire space. In the meantime I graduated in environmental engineering and when I moved back here in 2012, after 10 years of working in the field, I started the dream I had: a project of rural tourism at Casa das Palmeiras! Now i accomplished the dream and we have three Houses and one Suite.

Located on the plateau of the mountain Serra da Estrela, this is a rural tourism farm on the Dão region wine, where you can experience the day-to-day life of the farm and the children have the opportunity to interact with the farm animals or help in the biological garden. With environmental concerns, we separate our waste and use it to make compost to our organic garden. The permaculture garden – Horta da Ritinha, highlights my concern regarding not using chemicals on crops and respecting the natural course of nature. We want it to be a place of learning for our guests but also for the community. In the inner courtyard you can relax and enjoy our terrace or have a drink in our Bar, use the common living room with free access to internet or go to the library where you you can borrow a book. If exercise is your thing, then you can workout in our gym. Near the biological pool, we created a lovely place called "Palmeiras Lounge" with cushions and sofas under a white tent and old oaks, backed by an outdoor bar. The winery was kept as it was originally, and has been transformed into a museum, becoming an exhibition of old pieces that were left behind in time.

Take the opportunity and appreciate our tourist attractions by using a car or bikes wich we have available on site, or simply wander on foot through our forests, vineyards or nearby local villages. You can also enjoy a guided tour in our classic Citroen 2CV to the places wich are portrayed in the book of Camilo Castelo Branco "The Picture of Ricardina", where you will discover the timeless settings of a romance whith love, escape, revenge and disputes. Let yourself be carried away by the fragrances and flavors of our Dão wines, relax in Thermal Spa by the river or discover Viriato in city of Viseu, take time out to stroll through our historical villages or explore everything Serra da Estrela’s Natural Park has to offer, since hiking, mountain biking, skiing, nature routes or even radical sports we can organize with our associates.
