Aside from the Carmo Convent ruins, the square is also home to the free Guarda Nacional Republicana (GNR) Museum; the famous Santa Justa Elevator (Elevador de Santa Justa), aka the Carmo Elevator (Elevador Carmo), with stunning views of the city; and the terraces of Carmo, which have become a coveted spot to sip a cocktail during sunset.
