Located in the historic old town of Funchal right in the city center. The neighbourhood is unspoilt, with charming houses (some 500 years old) and three fantastic beaches within walking distance, one just below the house. Nearby you have cafés, bakeries, restaurants and shops. You can walk everywhere from the house, the feeling is very relaxed and undiscovered - the authentic Madeira which normally only the locals get to experience, without big hotels nearby. The farmers market is down the road with fresh fish for the barbecue on the terrace. Madeira has very good local produce and all of it is on your doorstep. A short drive also gets you quickly to the mountains where you can walk the hikes and trails. The marina is in front for the dolphin and yacht outings. The climate here is also specially mild and sunny without much wind, making it great for sunbathing and swimming all year.
