The Retiro do Castelo is a Local Accommodation project that arises from the reconstruction of an old house, once a cereal milling place, which supplied much of the village. Leaving its original facade completely reconstructed, a picturesque feeling is combined with Portuguese pavement, a stunning view of the castle and the countryside, providing fantastic afternoons of calm, sun and good mood. With an interior construction and a modern decoration, and with all the amenities the house provides unique moments of leisure and comfort.
When choosing Retiro do Castelo to spend a season, you are not only reserving a fantastic place to spend some comfortable days. If so, you can request advice, opportunities and tips from those who truly know the region, whether culturally, gastronomically or in terms of entertainment activities. At any time during your stay you can choose a full description, with the entrance to the house accessible through an access code. We are available 24 hours a day to solve and help with any problem. We will do everything to make your stay unforgettable.
Located immediately at the entrance to Óbidos, with parking spaces available, and a calm and friendly neighborhood, all services are available and quickly accessible on foot. The various entrances to Óbidos through the walls are located at about 400m, without having to go through the discomfort of carrying your bags inside the wall and having to look for or pay for parking. From here you can visit the castle, the walls, the typical houses of Óbidos, try a ginjinha and observe the surrounding area. The bus stop is 300 meters away. We recommend a bike ride to the lagoon, as the entire surrounding area has wooden pedestrian walkways, trails and pedestrian walking areas with a magnificent view over the lagoon. In the surroundings you can also visit Foz do Arelho, Bom Sucesso and Baleal, an excellent place to eat fish and seafood and be dazzled by a beautiful view of the sea and the countryside. About 5 minutes by car is the spa and artistic city of Caldas da Rainha. Take advantage of our shuttle service for planned tours.
