Sunflower Boathouse was designed by Thai local Ben and his Australian partner Mel and took years of hard work to come to fruition. It is quite the architectural feat and unlike any other building you are likely to stay in again! Ben previously had the Sunset Bar here on this location, but it was destroyed in the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami, which decimated Phi Phi. Ben lost his wife, two little girls, sister, and 14 other family members, and almost died himself that day, but he vowed to rebuild. With the help of many volunteers, including Mel, Ben reopened his bar in June 2005, this time named The Millie & Tia Sunflower Beach Bar, in memory of his lost children. Ben added the restaurant in 2007, and after the birth of their daughter Mekhala in 2008, both Mel and Ben began the laborious process of building Sunflower Boathouse. All six rooms now offer air conditioning, private bathroom with hot showers, refrigerator and tea and coffee making facilities.

Welcome to Sunflower Boathouse, the most unique accommodation on Phi Phi island, or perhaps anywhere in Thailand! Stay in a boat that lives on land... or some of our guests liken it to staying in a tree-house. Made from all natural timbers, our beautiful rooms are very spacious, allowing us to cater for groups of up to six people. We have six rooms in our Boathouse, three queen sized rooms which can easily cater for three people, one purpose built triple room and two family sized suites which can house up to five/six people. We have three rooms on the first floor, and three on the top floor, with a large shared balcony on each floor that is perfect for watching the sunset, meeting and hanging out with other guests, or enjoying a game of cards. All of our guests are entitled to discount drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) in our adjoining Sunflower Beach Bar & Restaurant, which has great online reviews. Boathouse guests can enjoy our hammocks, bean bags, beautiful boat themed tables, free pool table, free board games and of course, our unlimited free wifi. But best of all is the unbeatable view from our waterfront tables!

Sunflower Boathouse and Sunflower Beach Bar & Restaurant is located on the northern end of Lohdalum Bay, right on the water's edge overlooking the gorgeous bay. We are not too far away from anything that Phi Phi has to offer. It's a short walk to the central part of the village, and the beach is at your doorstep. We have an onsite tour shop to help with all your boat trip, snorkeling, and ferry bookings, while our good friends at Blue View Divers are right next door for all your diving trips. The Tsunami Memorial Park is nearby, For those that like the night life, we are a stone's throw away from all the fire show action on the beach, where you can dance the night away if you desire. Otherwise, relax and take it easy in our onsite chill-out bar :)
