Note there are 2.8 miles of unpaved, dirt roads with some small hills to get to the property. >>> OFF-GRID Embrace the off-grid experience! Our property operates without traditional utility connections, and is powered by solar energy and equipped with Starlink internet. We do our absolute best to provide you with a comfortable, luxurious stay in the heart of the Chihuahuan Desert. >>> WEATHER Our tents are designed to connect you with the outdoors and feature uninsulated canvas walls and windows, allowing you to experience nature's breeze and the surrounding mountain views. For added comfort, each tent has a radiant heater for heating and a mini-split for cooling, both in the bedroom. Note that indoor temperature variations may occur during extreme weather. We always recommend checking the weather conditions prior to departing for your trip. >>> COMMON AREAS All guests have access to the shared spaces, which include a hammock pavilion and a group fire pit (with jenga!), both with amazing sunrise and sunset mountain views. >>> SECURITY The exterior landscape has recording devices to ensure the privacy and protection of guests. The interior of each tent (1-4 only) has a Brilliant Control panel to control the lights, and has a covered, inactive camera. >>> OTHER Each tent has less than 10 low-rise stairs to get to the entry door. The interior decorations and views pictured slightly differ for each tent.

>>> ATTRACTIONS Explore a variety of activities close by in Big Bend National Park (BBNP) and the surrounding area, including hiking, stargazing, kayaking, birdwatching, biking, and more. We are located minutes from Terlingua Ghost Town, which has a variety of eccentric shops, unique dining, and old mining ruins. Other nearby attractions include Big Bend Ranch State Park and Marfa (day trip). The closest grocery/supplies store (Cottonwood) and gas station (Alon) are less than 10 miles away from Camp Elena and conveniently on the way to BBNP. >>> GETTING HERE/ROADS There are many options on how to navigate to the area, and driving will be part of each adventure. Take a flight into Midland or El Paso or a train ride into Alpine to begin, then drive to Terlingua/Big Bend.Since there are many unpaved roads in the area, 4WD or AWD vehicles are typically recommended to maximize your experience, but are not required, and sports cars are highly discouraged. There are 2.8 miles of unpaved roads to get to Camp Elena. Although rain is rare in the Chihuahuan Desert, please drive with caution when the unpaved roads are wet, and typically it's best to wait for them to dry. It is recommended to carry a gallon of water/person/day. Google maps is the most effective method in navigating to the property. Download directions ahead of time as cell service can be spotty in some areas.
