Situated on the edge of a cliff and conservation servitude, with 180 degree views, this is a bird and nature lovers paradise. The unit is off grid. There is a gas geyser, a small gas stove for cooking and a barbeque. There is no microwave or wifi (there is signal and so bring a dongle) and power is limited (no hairdryers please). The unit is set in the residential area of Monteseel (aptly named 'A Slice of Heaven'), nestled within a conservation area, and high above its surrounding area. It is just past the halfway mark on the Comrades Marathon route. Monteseel overlooks the Valley of 1000 Hills between Drummond and Cato Ridge and is well know for its safety, climbing routes and spectacular views. It has walking trails and picnic spots along the cliff edge. On a clear day, one can see as far as the ocean to the east and the Drakensberg to the west. On other days, if you come early enough in the morning, you will witness a blanket of cloud covering the valley below.

In Monteseel there are 2 trails open to the public at the moment, which can both be found starting at the viewing points with a marked board and a well-used pathway. Honey Trails has 3 hiking, running and mountain bike trails open to the public.
