GermanyHotel Schneeberghof is a must-stay. It is across the street from the hauptbahnhof to the top of Schneeberg (which the stay includes discounted tickets for!) The dinner and breakfast were included in the half-board option and both we excellent. The bed was extremely comfortable and the staff was very welcoming. There are hiking trails all around the hotel as well.

BelgiumOverall a great place, which still looks like in its glory, a hundred or so years ago. Mainly a seminar hotel, but happy to receive individual guests. Easy train ride from Vienna 70 min to Payerbach-Reichenau. From there the hotel offers transport, or alternatively walk 20-30 min along Schwarza river (avoid the Main Street). Indoor pool. Good breakfast in impressive historic dining room. Lunch and dinner options. Friendly staff. Good price-quality relation. (The hotel, while very nicely renovated, is not necessarily luxury, at least the parts that I’ve seen.) Good hiking options in and around Reichenau.
